<lj:music>Teen Tournament on Jeopardy</lj:music>

I've had a fairly productive week so far.
On Monday, I filled out most of the application to be a substitute teacher in Madison County.
I also completed an application for employment at the local hospital and bought groceries.
Yesterday wasn't so productive.
I only paid rent, talked to a certain person for two hours and read over 100 pages of a book.
Today I finished the sub application (it needed witness signature in one part).
I also sent out requests for recommendation letters for grad school
and sent an email of interest (with resume and cover letter) in response to a job ad I found.
Oh and I finished the book from Tuesday, bringing my total number for 2009 to 54 books.
Tomorrow I plan to take it and the other I got back to the library and get three more.
I've got 14 of my own books to read but I've not had that many in a while so I want to savor them.
Plus, these three are ones I've been interested in reading for quite a while now:
The Condition about a woman with Turner's Syndrome who falls in love,
The Amityville Horror (saw the original movie it sucked, hopefully the book's better)
and Stranger in a Strange Land which is a sci-fi book before sci-fi was really well known.
I'm also turning in my substitute teacher and hospital applications.
Last week was really good too, I went home for a week.
It was both the longest I've been home in a while and the longest since I've been home.
(about a month)
While home, I helped mom go through my old boxes of stuff to store/get rid of/etc.
It was a very nostalgic week doing that and then seeing Bryan Adams on Thursday.
That's right I saw the 80s pop star known for Summer of '69 in concert.
He was awesome, great music, a hilarious sense of humor and :D great looks hehe.
My GRE test went fairly well before I went home too.
I didn't get as high of a raw score as I would have liked,
but it's good enough to fulfil the score requirements for the programs in which I'm interested.
So that's good enough for me. :)
Now it's just personal statement and applications time. :|
One professor has already agreed to give me letters of recommendation though,
she emailed me within an hour of when I contacted her. *yay*
Thank you woman who looks like Stephen Colbert in drag :P lol.
I'm really wanting to go on the syndicated Who Wants to be a Millionaire lately.
I watch it every day and I think I'd do dang good on it.
I know so much random trivia that I've cultivated from and on a variety of sources.
For example, do you what kind of doctor "Doc" Holliday was to get his nickname?
I do and had I been on Millionaire today I would have won $50,000 for knowing that answer.
Plus I'm a good enough guesser on things that I think I would be able to do quite well.
I'm tossing ideas around for another 'story.'
It's part dream inspired, part real-life facts put in.
Hmmm.
I don't know if I should write it though,
considering how having memories of the past ones made me feel awkward during yesterday's conversation.
Tonight's a big night for TV me--SVU, Nip/Tuck and Real World/Road Rules Challenge. :D
I think I'm finished now.
Random note about teen tournament Jeopardy first--
why would you name a daughter Forrest? :/

    <lj:music>Celebrity Jeopardy, double Jeopardy round</lj:music>

As of today, I have been officially out of work for two solid months.
It's no picnic at all. :/
Oh sure I've gotten a lot of GRE studying in,
and I've read about 5 books in the last month, among other things.
Still, I miss getting to do more than read, study, watch a lot of TV, etc.
I've applied for a lot of jobs and only really heard from a few in response.
The main things I keep hearing is that they're going with another candidate.
I've got plans of what I'm going to work on after the GRE next Friday at least.
I'm going to start working on my grad school applications,
with my first step being sorting out which professors/people I'm getting for rec'd letters.
I have 4 professors in mind and I may get one or two from Joyce at BraveHearts.
She can help vouch for how much I care about counseling and working with kids...
I watched Sybil this week.
Her mother was the worst imitation of a human being I've ever seen. :S Ugh.
It's an awesome movie though,
and I'm glad the real woman got help and had a happy last half of life.
Weird fact: my mom has seen the real Sybil the movie's based on.
She came into a flower store my mom used to work in in Lexington.
That coupled with the fact about my nana's family makes me think PSY stuff was maybe destined for me--
at least a little bit.
You see, I went on a trip to Louisville last weekend with my bestie and two other pals.
We ate dinner and then went on a tour of Waverly Hills' haunted house.
It wasn't as spooky as I thought it'd be but still really neat.
Turns out my nana's sister used to work there when it was a sanatorium.
That's quite neat in my o-pinion. :)
I'm starting to think that the guy I'm meant to meet/find as my soul mate has brown hair.
I had my second dream this week involving me and a brown haired guy.
We were flirty, comfortable together and loving, etc etc.
Unlike the first, it didn't feel like I was experiencing it though.
I mean I know I was there but it felt more like I was watching a movie of us.
*shrug*
My mom's coming in for a bit this weekend.
We're going to help me learn the route to where I'll be taking the GRE.
I know it sounds bad that I've not driven out that way in a city nearby.
I just get really comfy staying around a location I'm in, i.e. Richmond.
We're going to Olive Garden for lunch afterward so that's a win methinks. :)
The one in Richmond opened last month so hopefully the crowds aren't as huge now.
She's then heading off to Big Blue Madness (I'm considering going with her).
I do have something to look forward to after the GRE on the 23rd though.
Mom and I are going to a Bryan Adams (basically him a guitar) concert on the 29th. :D
That's all I have for now, back to watching Celebrity Jeopardy and playing Yahtzee I guess. :P

I still have no job.
I've applied to a few more places lately but to no avail.
I did read today though that my application for a state job has been sent to the hiring agency.
It's a positive step methinks since now the people wanting to hire someone have my info.
This is the job that is with a public safety office.
I think I may have a decent shot at it too considering my last year of work before now.
I also applied for two EKU related jobs including being a substitute teacher at Model
and I put up my application for an cooperative extension job in Estill County.
In other news, my math prep for the GRE is kicking my butt. :|
I'm hating it too so maybe it knows this and is purposely being hard in retaliation?
*shrug*
--I am aware I just personified the quantitative part of the GRE.
Methinks unemployment has made me even weirder than before.--
I also am officially registered to take the darn thing.
Countdown to test day: t-minus 26 days.
Where did the phrase "t-minus" start anyway?
I mean I know it's used in NASA, but how did it start?
Anyway...
I've watched two fairly cheesy romantic movies lately:
Barefoot in the Park and The Goodbye Girl,
both by Neil Simon as it turns out.
Barefoot was my preference of the two (ahh Robert Redford hehe).
Goodbye was sweet though, I really liked Richard Dreyfuss in it.
Also, the characters' first kiss was really cute, how he caught her offguard.
*sigh*
In a nerd update: I've made it to level 7-4 in Mario Brothers.
That stupid maze sucks let me tell you.
I got so fed up with it at one point that I researched its solution online yesterday.
Found it (beat it once) as well as a video of a person winning the whole game in about 5 minutes.
I ordered 3 new books and a DVD set from amazon last week.
Woot for The Ray Bradbury Theater!! :D (got the entire series for $10)
I also now have a local library card (and I gave them my application too).
As a result, I'm reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
It's really good too, the author just met The Lady Chablis hehe.
I think this week I'm going to seriously start researching/planning out my dream story.
I have a lot planned in terms of work/GRE related things but yeah...
Also I'm hoping to hang out with a friend in the upcoming weekend/s.
That's it really, I think I'll go watch a movie I and play some Yahtzee before dinner.

Note: The icon I'm using is in no way related to my subject line. I feel John Krasinski (minus his smoking habit) is one of the my celebrity crushes who I feel comes fairly close to my dream guy and the fact that his most famous character role is Jim Halpert well that's just a slight taste of irony for the start of this entry. Not that any of you beloved LJ pals who read this actually care about those details but still, I had to clarify...

Moving on,
I still haven't had any luck with the job hunt thus far.
Comp Care was a bust, a bank moved on to other applicants, etc etc.
I did follow up on one job after applying 2 weeks ago,
the woman hiring said applicants would be contacted within the next week.
She also thanked me for my interest and inquiry that day.
I got a call from the Richmond Office of Employment and Training today.
When I called back, I had to leave my info for the woman to call me back.
She was supposed to by the end of the day today but alas that didn't happen either.
I'll follow up on that tomorrow I guess.
In the meantime, I've been studying 3 to 4 days a week for the GRE.
I hope to apply to grad schools for fall '10 admission.
After two weeks of work, I went up about 120 points from when I took my first practice test.
I want to get up a few hundred more points than that on the real thing,
which I plan to register for this week and take sometime next month.
I finished my entry for the short story contest through Good Housekeeping.
With my mom and Chelsey's help I made some good edits and sent it off last week.
Thankfully I sent it off nad put it on a jump drive before my lap top crashed.
:(
I lost all of my photos (regained the ones I put on facebook/myspace at least) and most of my word files.
I have to rebuild my collection of LJ icons though.
Other than school stuff and a few things for a fiction piece I worked on in college,
the only things I really had saved [thank God] were my resume and cover letter.
They were on a jump drive too.
In a technological good thing though, I bought a wireless printer a few weeks' back.
I tested it with copies of my resume and a cover letter for that job 2 weeks ago.
I printed some of these things out from my living room ooooh! :P
Playing classic Mario Brothers has sort of taken up the rest of my life.
I managed to beat worlds almost all the way through 7-1 last week.
Speaking of that, I'm going to give it a go before Glee comes on tonight.
Alas I am but a very big nerd it seems. :|

So, it's been almost 1 1/2 months since I've last updated.
Big changes have occurred since then.
My dad is now remarried, (I didn't go to the wedding).
I almost got to travel for my job, (San Diego *sigh*)
but then the people in Washington decided to do the newsletter themselves.
Thus, the contract they were going to renew with EKU isn't happening.
As a result, the full time job I was a 'strong internal candidate' for in May is no more.
Now, as of tomorrow at 4:30pm, I will be an out of work college graduate.
GRRRR.
Things were fine we were told, nothing weird or going wrong.
Then suddenly, a few days later the contract cancellation news came. :|
My boss did say though if any other contracts come through that I can work on,
I'll be got right back to where I am now.
So at least there's that.
I have basically spent the last two weeks goofing off on line all day for 8 hours a day/5 days a week.
Of course, I finished the last three articles I was working on first.
Well, I did as best I could and sent them on to the Washington people.
(I was told not to overwork and stress them too much).
It's not just my job being cut either,
three of my co-workers are losing about half their monthly paycheck.
*sigh*
I did though already apply for a part time job at Hastings in Richmond,
I did this last week so I may follow up on it today and just ask if the position was filled or not.
Yesterday I also gave my resume to the people at the Madison County Comprehensive Care Center.
I panicked when I went in and flat out asked if they had any job openings.
The woman at the reception area said she didn't know but would talk to the area coordinator.
I also gave her my resume when she asked for it (smart move bringing a copy with me I think).
She said she'd give that to the in charge person and they'd give me a call.
She also liked that I had a psychology degree, I mentioned my 6 years of camp counseling too.
So, we'll see. *shrug*
I'm also thinking of applying to be a library associate on campus.
It'd be working nights and some weekends but it's full time and I think I could do what's needed.
The hiring people for it want either 4 years related to the job experience--
or a bachelor's degree and no experience.
I can also build my resume for it, write up a fairly good cover letter methinks,
and I have three good professional references I can list.
The job posting's up until August 20th so I have some time to think about it and such.
Camp BraveHearts this year was thousands times better than last year.
We actually got to interact with the kids, the counselors on the campsite's part were good too.
I think each year will get better and better--maybe.
My campers were the youngest girls (around 7 or 8 years old).
They were adorable, awesome, draining and sometimes annoying but I loved them. :)
Hopefully they will all come back next year.
I'm still working on a story I'm writing for a contest.
I've got about 700 words left to fill in and it's due in about a month.
Maybe I'll finish it today and actually be productive in some way :P.
I know what I want to say in the last parts of it, I just don't want it to sound too corny.
I also have plans to make up a new GRE study plan and print it before going home tomorrow.
This plan is one I definitely want to follow because I do want to maybe apply for fall '10 grad school.
I'm going home for a bit longer than my usual weekend time tomorrow.
I figure I don't have work Monday sadly so why not stay an extra day? :)
I need to get my muffler fixed while I'm home and I need a break from Richmond.
I've barely been home all summer, granted my apartment's now my home in a way but still...
For those of you keeping track of my work crush, it's fading fast.
Turns out the tech guy is married but doesn't wear a ring.
(He quote gets out of it by working with computers. :| Shady stuff man.)
In nicer news, I'm having pizza and hang out time with a friend tonight.
I've not seen this amazing person since May and I've missed her muchly.
Yay for her living in a Richmond apartment for her last year at EKU :D.
I finished my first Joyce Carol Oates book this week.
It was a short story collection.
She writes morbid stories very well, now I'm on to one of her novels.
I guess that's it really.
Off to browse jobs in Richmond again :P.

Life's been a mix of okay, blah and occasional errg lately.
Work's been decent, I've had enough to do usually.
It's just sometimes activities dry up and I get bored,
and other times like a few minutes today when things got stressful.
I think it will work out in the end I mean I did all I could.
I've developed quite a crush on a guy in the tech lab at my job too.
I mean granted I see him for an average of five minutes/week but still...
He's really nice, has good teeth and the style of hair I like,
his eyes are either a dark blue or a grayish almost black color.
We seem to get along well enough what little we've talked too.
Case in point, he teased me today as he came in from lunch.
I was making a pasta thing in the break room microwave,
he said to a co-worker they could just take my lunch.
I said that he'd enjoy it since it's pasta (something I know about him is he likes pasta).
He smiled a bit and the two of them said I should just start bringing triple lunch from now on.
I paused for a bit and said okay but by then they were already almost out the door.
He's also the guy I had to see to get my staff email address set up and my new ID made.
He made sure to write my name down to spell it right since he mentioned effing up one before.
(He said the 'f' word I just don't curse.)
He made it with the old ID format and still the 2nd 'l' in my name wasn't included.
He apologized saying he made sure to spell it write and still that happened.
I joked with him that it's okay, blame Sharon and Eddie Campbell, they gave me too long a name.
He said it as the second 'n' in my first name that did it.
I joked again that it's my parents' fault and I'm okay with it.
He then showed me his that was old mangled one that the dog of a co-worker bit & he still uses.
We smiled about that and
my old ID being the former student worker's makes me a multiple personality. :P
*shrug*

I'm turning into a creeper mc creeperson in watching him sometimes though.
What I mean is I move my eyes ever so slightly around to see him walking by,
but I don't move my head much so he can't tell I am watching him.
Hehehehe

I got an invitation to my dad's wedding in the mail yesterday.
:|
The ceremony's at his house on July 18 at 3:30 for any of you LJ pals who want to take my place. ;-)
I'm really not wanting to go to it even saying I'm too busy work wise to go.
He said that it's his wedding and Joe and Savannah Campbell (me and my bro) should be there.
:|
I'm dreading that weekend, I honestly can't come home then,
and leave the next Thursday for BraveHearts, it just won't work out logistics wise.
I'm working on a short story for a writing contest sponsored by Good Housekeeping.
First prize is $3,000 and publication in the magazine, 2 runner ups get $750 and on line publication.
The only stipulation is it has to be about women of today.
My main character is a woman my age struggling to find herself.
I'm one DVD away from finishing season 3 of 5 in Six Feet Under.
It's an amazing show, I love David, Nate, Claire and Brenda.
I hate Lisa with a passion.

R.I.P. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. :(
I wasn't a big fan of any of them but it's still sad when tragedies like these strike.

I got really sick two nights ago but thankfully it only lasted that long.
I'm looking forward to the weekend, a movie and hopefully hang out time with a friend.
Then next weekend is a 3 day one for me, yay for 4th of July! :) Go America! ;) lol

I think I'm going to go read now before Royal Pains comes on at 10.

    <lj:music>the last few minutes of Harper's Island</lj:music>

So I work 8 to 4:30 now with a half hour lunch break.
It's a pretty sweet gig, just a more responsibility laden version of my student job.
Oh and there's the great pay for it too.
I'm not meaning to brag honestly, I got soooo lucky to get this job.
It's going to be even cooler soon if a request goes through.
The request is for me to get to travel with my boss to Reading, Massachusetts on 6/15/09.
We'd be interviewing people, taking photos, etc for articles at work.
Three weeks into the job and already I may get to travel wooo!
I don't want to jinx anything but I think it'd be pretty sweet to get to go.
I never bought my wireless printer or the complete Dead Like Me series.
I plan on buying the printer soon though.
A friend I took wedding photos (well half of the photos) for is paying me.
I gave her and her husband *wow* index prints, 2 photo cds and the memory card I used.
My camera battery decided to be stupid right at ceremony time. :|
I only got her getting ready, decorations, family portraits, and reception photos.
The other photographer picked up the slack (getting there at 11) did the ceremony.
So hopefully Courtney, Herbie your stuff looks good. :)
Whatever money she decides is right to pay me will go to my printer.
Then some of my first paycheck at work is going to new clothes for work.
I've got plenty of pants but I need some summer weather tops.
I saw Up in theaters today, a very good movie indeed.
Of course, it being Disney/Pixar that's no shock right?
I then took some photos around the ravine on campus.
They're below the cut.

Hopefully those links worked and I apologize for the photos' sizes, but that's why they were behind the cut.
Someone shot off fireworks near by,
I do live near campus so maybe that's for the Special Olympics.
I saw signs up yesterday. *shrug*
I went to the library at school a few days back;
got a Bradbury book and a 3 novels in 1 book set of H.G. Wells books.
The latter wrote some seriously intriguing stuff other than his well known books.
I'm reading the Bradbury book (it's 100 of his earlier short stories).
Three Wishes in town was interesting,
most of the stuff was pretty accurate, some not so much.
I didn't reveal too much so the fortune woman would say stuff without bias.
I don't have a lot of family drama stuff to report for once *yay.*
That's really it for now.
The next to last episode ever of Pushing Daisies is on in a few minutes.
:'( If I can't have a Jim Halpert/John Krasinski, can I have a Ned the piemaker/Lee Pace?
Please? I'm a good girl who deserves at least a fling or good romance.

So I'm finished with college.
It took going through:
sort of bad weather (for May),
accidentally wearing my 'bling' the wrong way/fixing it while walking into the gym,
getting my middle name pronounced wrong,
a gym so crowded some of my family had to watch the tape later to see my ceremony
and a sort of awkward encounter with dad to do it but I am an EKU alumni now! :P
I got some great money to show for my alumni-ness too hehe.
$150 of it though is going to a wireless printer
and Dead Like Me the complete series.
The printer was going to be a gift from mom but she couldn't find one,
so instead she gave me the $100 for it and I'm buying it myself. :P lol
It's a scary thought knowing a diploma is on its way to me in 5-7 weeks. :|
I'm lucky in one regard though as I start my 'big girl job' a week from tomorrow.
I also though have to start prepping myself for the GRE,
that is if I am sticking to my 'take a year off and save money' plan
and applying for fall '10 admission to EKU's grad school.
I also have to pick a program I want to do,
even though I'm applying to 2 different areas at EKU.
Yeah.
I spent last week in Richmond showing my friend Andrea around.
She seemed to like it well enough,
but then again this a girl who really hides her feelings/emotions/etc well,
except for what she writes in her own private journals and such.
I'm hanging out with Andrea, her brother and her crush tonight.
We're going to Three Wishes, this fortune teller place in P-burg.
Ooooh.
Random lonely thought: I want a Jim Halpert/John Krasinski.
Either will work, believe you me, most female Office fans will agree. :)
My dad has been a real jerk to my brother (specifically)lately.
I can't believe all the things he's selectively forgot, misread, etc. :|
I finished my 2nd Faulkner book recently,
the dude needs to learn what a good paragraph looks like. :P
Otherwise he's a pretty decent writer, sometimes confusing but overall okay.
I started This is Your Brain on Music today.
It's about why music is so important to people among other related topics.
I was really intrigued by it at Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago. :)
It was one of about 7 new books I've bought in the last 1 1/2 weeks.
I also borrowed one from Andrea.
Once I read all these new ones,
I'll have 40 of the 50 I want read for that challenge I'm trying to complete.
Granted with the more sociable/doing stuff summer I have planned it may take awhile.
But I will be successful muwhahahaha! :P
I also woke up recently with an idea for a short story.
The idea had nothing to do with the dream I was in at the moment of inspiration.
(unlike some of my little 'stories' I've written these last few years)
I'm still a boring person as this entry has shown I guess.
College graduations don't change that at all it seems.
Maybe the fortune teller or whatever will tell me something interesting tonight--
yeah I'm doubting it too.

I have fifteen days left in my stint as an undergraduate EKU student.
That number though includes weekends and days without finals too,
so not counting weekends or the two days of finals week that I don't have finals,
that puts me at 11 days.
Wow.
Every day I have a few moments where it sinks in that I'm almost finished with college.
I went by the Registrar's Office the day I said I would.
Long story short, EKU's policy on double majoring vs. getting two degrees at once is bull.
I actually cried the woman made me so upset about it. :S
I did manage to get my primary degree changed to Psychology though,
I figure it will be easier to apply to clinical/counseling grad school programs that way,
it will keep me from having to explain my 'double major' instead of 2 degrees thing.
A certain person has done a certain action lately to really upset me.
Granted he doesn't know how this action affected me,
but it's seriously something I never thought would happen. :|
In other news, I'm helping photograph a friend's wedding next month.
I hope I do okay,
I've been meaning to play with my camera lately it's just school's exhausting lately,
it's such an effort to go through each class when I know I'm so close to finishing.
I'm especially drained by my community journalism project and all the copy editing I'm doing.
Why am I the one who has to be so responsible and diligent
that the professor gives me one of the, if not the biggest job of all?
:/
I spent 2 1/2 hours editing copy today and I'm going to edit copy for 1 1/2 hours on Sunday night.
The more I help then and Tuesday the easier things will go on the last day (Thursday),
that's when the project book has to go to the printer.
At least the professor's buying the Sunday workers dinner
and she said those who have been putting in a lot of work will be rewarded. :)
I'm a few books away from the halfway mark in the '50 Book Challenge' I'm trying to do.
I either want to read 50,000 pages or 50 books this year and I'm on book 23.
I might go to a discount movie tomorrow,
anyone here hear if Coraline is any good?
I want to go by the Dollar Tree too, maybe replace my tornado/storm broken picture frames.
My window sill has been looking weird with the three frames on one side--it's lopsided.
Maybe I'll stop by the Peddler's Mall too,
but Andrea wants to do that too when she's here in 2 weeks, hmm should I wait or not?
...
I guess that's it for me fellow livejournal-ians,
the next time I update on my life I'll be a college graduate.
Eeeee!

three weeks and finals
That's all I have left in my undergraduate college career.
Leading up to that I have a 2 projects and a few assignments here and there but May 9 is close.
It's scary to think about but I've almost come to be okay with it.
The class I complained about in my last entry went okay today.
I got good scores on 2 of the latest 3 assignments.
The professor said that if people wanted to turn in a final draft of a 2nd practice intro on Friday,
they would be allowed to and be completely finished with stuff.
Oh Dr. Lorden don't ever give a person like me an opportunity like that...
I wound up typing my introduction at work today,
as well as a list of courses for my JOU 491 portfolio.
I did do work too I promise,
it's just most of it was waiting on getting official approval for a guy to talk to me.
He's a federal govt. contractor
and he needed the "OK" before he could quoted in a newsletter put out by a federal govt. agency.
Yeah I know it made my head spin slightly too.
He said he could lose his job though without getting that go-ahead
and he has boat payments to make.
I was polite saying I understood but yeah dude like I care about you losing a boat.
(Unless it's your house then I feel a bit bad considering the housing market but still...)
I've played around with my new camera a bit.
I've put about 20 or so photos on Facebook and MySpace,
if I'm not friends with you on there and you want to see them let me know and I'll add you. :)
My dad is getting worse in his lack of contact lately. :|
That's all I really want to say about that.
I went to the eye doctor last Friday, it was the first time in 2 years.
Turns out my right eye (the lazy one) has actually gotten slightly better.
*shrug* Who knew that could happen?
I've bought six books since last Monday,
yay for gift cards and going by Waldens bookstore on Friday. :P
I've read East of Eden since I last updated.
I'm now re-reading Something Wicked This Way Comes.
I've found 2 more old Queen pals on Facebook recently.
The Progress ran my column as a "Personal Point of View" last week.
It concerned one of my journalism professors,
in explaining the "two majors" situation I got riled up again about things.
So tomorrow, I'm going by the registrar and protesting the situation.
I did not know throughout my entire college career the policy about getting 2 degrees at once.
It should be interesting...
I'll let you beloved people know how things go.

So I have five weeks of classes and one week of finals left until I graduate.
This week has overall been okay, with today being the best day of the preceding 5.
Considering I overslept by about 20 minutes today that's saying something.
Work was okay this week, I finished an article draft yesterday,
and will have it ready after my Friday shift.
I also have a lot of various school things due soon (but I'll manage).
Furthermore, my psychology literacy professor had some serious gall yesterday.
The class as a whole didn't do well on an assignment and she said we basically need to deal.
She said we were used to making A's in high school and last semester
and that we have too high of expectations for ourselves and B's are okay. :|
Note: This class was designed for people who haven't taken intro to stats stuff yet.
I myself have and am only in this class because I declared my major late.
The nerve of her! :S lol
I have a test in that class tomorrow too and I doubt I'll study.
I mean I'm going to try pretty hard for an A so I can go out with a 4.0 semester,
but lately I've developed a slight attitude of "Eh so what, one B and I'll still have the GPA I want.
Moving on...
I had a pretty decent birthday last weekend, saw family, hung out with friends, got nice gifts.
The biggest of which was a new camera that my zoom lens from my 35 mm camera works on/with.
I got it from my dad and 'the Arnold Avenue gang.' :S (more on this later)
Take a look at this fine piece of equipment:

I ordered a 4 GB card to go in it too which should be in tomorrow or Saturday. :)
Today was also good because I enjoyed my child psychopathology class loads.
We watched a video on behavior therapy for kids with autism (soo awesome and cute!)
I also got to see a dear friend after my journalism class. :D
I don't see her nearly enough considering our closeness.
I got a headache after dinner but a quick nap helped it.
I woke up to a call from dad about my taxes, I will be getting a refund (a pretty good one too).
Woooot for extra money hehe.
Speaking of dad though, he's set a wedding date
(July 18th--oh darn dad that's the only time I have to go on vacation this summer before BraveHearts because of the JSC job possibility...)
and I heard the bride is wearing an orange dress :|
I say heard because he e-mailed a few family members about this who told me instead of him.
Also another person around my age is supposedly engaged. :S
I met his girlfriend last weekend and gotta say I didn't get a good impression.
Facebook has helped me connect with an old Queen related friend
as well as a 'friend' from high school recently.
I mean the high school one and I still occasionally talk anyway but yeah...
I'm almost finished with a 4th specific type of story too *shady look*
and I'm planning a My Turn column for The Progress.
It's about my two degrees complaint and if ran, it will run the day registration for fall '09 starts.
Booyah.
I guess that's it really.
I have a bit of school related stuff to do this weekend,
but I also plan on watching a few good things on TV and maybe trying out my camera. :D
I'm also 100 pages away from finishing my book of 100 Bradbury stories, so readings on the books too.
Ha reading's on the books...yeah I like puns.

Spring break, ahh how I'm glad to be on it right now.
These last two weeks before coming home today were long and pretty busy.
I had two tests this week and a paper due in one class,
but I got to go home at noon (after work) because I turned stuff in early for my 10:10 class.
Not a whole lot has happened since I updated last month to be honest.
I've worked on research for a few articles at work
and today while there we had a luncheon for one of the worker's impending marriage.
I didn't know about it until about 10 minutes before it started,
but yeah yay for free food and congrats to Emily hehe.
Today at work we also got word that a few of our articles weren't up to snuff.
(i.e. missing DHS tie-ins or responder testimonies)
It annoyed my boss and me but I think soon enough we should have stuff that will work.
It was just aggravating having to hear that complaint so late in the game
and then for one of the articles my boss couldn't find a responder from which to get quotes.
(She ended up getting them a bit before the luncheon started
and I was e-mailed a contact for my story so hopefully things will work out soon.)
Mid-term grades are up for me already;
I have all A's, one of those was a bit of surprise but I plan to work to keep it.
I finished three books in two weeks lately,
and this week I'm starting The Tenth Circle--my first try at Jodi Picoult.
I've only read about 10 pages but so far it seems good. :)
I've not had cable in my apartment for about a week now,
the stupid weird weather messed up the card used in my DISH box. :S
I asked about it a few times and the new card is on order and should be fixed while I'm gone.
It's not been too bad without TV, all my shows are on line except one,
and that one has either not been on or been repeats lately.
Also, I'm one episode behind on Nip/Tuck but it repeats on Sunday at 11.
I watched a lot of my fave movies instead to make up the time too.
I see so much of my old high school 4-H pals in characters from The Big Chill.
Honestly, I can see us re-connnecting like that in the future,
I just hope it doesn't take a suicide of one of us for it to happen.
I also watched the movie of The Hotel New Hampshire from Netflix last weekend.
I agree with Netflix reviews about the zany, fast nature of the events,
but honestly the book itself is kind of nuts,
and seriously condensing a 400 page book into less than 2 hours?
That's dang good in my opinion, and a 1980s Rob Lowe=HAWT! *fans self*
Slumdog Millionaire is also amazing by the way, saw it at the mall for $3.
In the absence of TV, I got a lot of reading & studying in this way too,
as evident by the 100 out of 106 possible points on my PSY 408 test on Thursday. :D
I felt pretty good about that test afterwards but woo! hehe
I hope to see He's Just Not That Into You this weekend,
it's abbreviated on the marquee at the theater in town as He's Not Into You. Ha!
I don't really have a lot more to say.
With the exception of a few events involving school, my life's still so boring.
Seeya later LJ pals.

    <lj:music>new Brothers and Sisters episode</lj:music>

So Roger Taylor of Queen was right about something.
He was talking about life in general in Champions of the World.
(That's a Queen documentary I've had for about 8 years now,
probably haven't watched since but I digress...)
He mentions how for every little bit of happiness, there's a trough.
There's a downside that evens things out in life, a balance in a way.
Anyway, he was right about that balance to things.
About 2 weeks ago my boss told me she wishes she could clone me,
that way I could get more than my limited student worker hours in, etc.
I thought it was a good enough time to ask what I was going to bring up in March.
I asked if the job I have now is going to turn full time like she said when I interviewed.
She said she didn't know but would talk to our guy from the Dept. of Homeland Security.
We then discussed my two articles and she told me if I needed any help to let her know.
I managed to get my last interview done before leaving from my 2 hour shift that day,
planning on writing the article on the following Monday to hopefully meet our DHS deadline.
I ended up getting the article together and ready for DHS review within 2 hours Monday.
Also, there was another bit of good news on Monday.
My boss talked to Brian (the DHS guy) and the job is going to be full time.
It won't be on the books until June, it has to be posted, I have to interview,
all the formalities have to be done,
but during that time they're going to make me a 40 hour/week temp.
I'm going to be eased into the full-time gig.
It will be more than just the newsletter articles;
I'll be doing press stuff and even writing course descriptions.
And oh by the way it's going to pay for 12 hours of grad school a semester. :)
I'm still taking my year off but still yay!
The balance to this came around 5pm last Monday.
My dad's engaged to Trinity.
He had the nerve to say that he knew we (he and me)
were rocky when they started out but he hopes that's a little better now.
I went by there today to say bye and so forth (saw the ring ugh).
They have a Wii Fit, one of the girls has a green version of my lap top
and there's a new fridge in the house.
(It may be from her house since it's cleaned out now but still...)
Now I have my definite reasoning for what I'm wanting for my birthday:
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-10-1MP-Digital-18-55mm-3-5-5-6/dp/B001CBKJGG/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1234751264&sr=8-2
Dad said to let him know what I wanted and well my camera is broken,
like the switch used to go from photos to videos to slide show is non-existent.
And that one is prettttty :) and my zoom lens that goes up to 300mm can be used on it.
In other news, my V-Day was fine.
I watched Friday The 13th (which is great by the way) with Andrea.
I also watched a UK game with mom before that.
I start my shadowing of a guy at The Winchester Sun for school this week. :|
Yay for getting to use GPS. :S
That's it really.
I don't do much but read, watch too much TV/stuff on line, eat and sleep nowadays.
I'm serious, I don't put as much effort as I used to into school lol.
I think I'll go clean out my old camera now, in case my plan works to get the new one.
The quote in my title is from The World According to Garp by the way.
Here's the full exchange:
-“Daddy, what’s gradual school?”
--“What?”
-“Gradual school. Mommy says she teaches at gradual school.
--“Oh. Gradual school is where you go to school and you gradually find out you don’t want to go to school anymore.”
(conversation between Garp and his son Walt about Walt’s mom’s job)

So let's see.
I survived the big ice storm extravaganza last week.
My power went out around 6:45 on Tuesday.
I panicked, called the parents, got a hold of one and chatted for a bit.
Based on her suggestion I went across the parking lot and visited Caitlin and her hubby.
Thankfully they weren't too bothered by me coming over for a bit.
Caitlin and I just chatted and laughed about old times for about 3-4 hours.
I went back home at 11 or so and slept until 10 the next day.
(Woo for campus being closed the rest of the week? :S)
I got a hold of dad that day too and thank God for family friends in Lexington.
One of dad's pals named Kevin Porter picked me up and took me to my Nana's.
She had power and we kept each other company until around 2 this afternoon.
That was when mom and Marilyn got me back to my apartment.
I had got power back by Wednesday afternoon (called the rent office on Friday),
but still it was good to be around a person for those days. :)
Ironically I got my electric bill the day my power went out lol.
Anyway, being back in Richmond I stocked up on more groceries. :|
I took most of the perishable things with me to Nana's to eat all week.
I also bought 3 b-day cards for mom, Amanda and Chelsey.
Chelsey's b-day isn't until April but who cares :P.
I need to find Tiffany a great one this year too.
I mean she got me the awesome quote book mentioned in my last entry.
Moving on...
I finished Hotel New Hampshire at Nana's on Wednesday night.
John Irving = distasteful sex stuff in my opinion.
He's a great storyteller,
but he seriously does not need to address certain things the way he does.
I'm now finishing up the Uglies series borrowed from Andrea, I'm on Specials.
I really don't want to go back to work and school tomorrow.
One of my professors though is treating it like we're 2 days behind,
which is nice considering I'm a bit ahead on the assignment quizzes for that class.
*nerd*
Okay I wrote a whole bunch of nothing in this entry and I'm sorry.
I'm off to finish book 3 of 4 in the Uglies series,
then it's new eppy of Office time! :D

I've almost completed two weeks of this semester,
that leaves fourteen more and I'm a college graduate.
Can you say scary kids?
I know that it's hard for me to do so lately.
I've not completed as much writing as I would like lately, in both work and leisure.
I do have a few ideas though and might ask for some input soon on one of them.
I plan on calling for interviews in terms of work related writing.
I found out that I have two articles due by February 9.
School's okay lately, I've got senioritis pretty bad though;
but I may be able to have my last semester be one with a 4.0. ...
We'll see how that goes though.
Here's a rundown on how classes are going.
*MUH 273: I took this as a free elective because I needed 12 hours to keep my scholarship (I'm taking 13). It's a pretty easy class, I get to listen to music and learn about different styles of it. In March for a few weeks we go over classic rock :D hehe.
*PSY 250: I declared my psychology major late and even though I'm only fulfilling degree requirements and not getting a diploma in the field I have to have this class. It's not bad either just boring stuff about research and reports--stuff I know how to do already. :S
*PSY 408: This is an elective in psychology about child psychopathology. It's a bit dry right now because we're not to the disorders chapters yet but I have friends in the class so that makes things okay :). The professor is really smart and gives good examples so that's a plus.
*JOU 425: This is the longest class ever! Community Journalism lasts for about about 2 1/2 hours a day/2 days a week. :| Good news is we don't meet every TR. There's a lot of reading though and the project's going to be a lot of work but I'll *cough* hopefully *cough* survive it.
*JOU 491: Ah senior seminar class. :| It meets one hour a week for only 11 of the 16 weeks in the term. I think as long as I get everything done it will be fine but it's boring and a waste (in my opinion) since I want to pursue psychology stuff post-graduation. :| I also have homework to do in here this weekend. :S

One of my good friends got engaged last week and I'm very happy for her. :)
My dad's been calling more often lately which is surprising.
Mom is doing okay too, we talk about the same amount as we usually do.
My friend Tiffany got my an awesome book of movie quotes as a late Christmas surprise :D.
My subject quote is from it actually, I found it funny and neat. :)
I had an 'interesting' dream a few days ago about you know who.
...
I plan on hanging out with my psychology pals and playing therapy next week.
I don't want to think about not living in Richmond before I apply for grad school.
I miss those kids and Tiffany a lot and we're still in the same city.
I miss my old pals back home too.
One of them sent me a text on the first day of classes wishing me a good day.
I sent her one back and told her I missed her.
She misses me too but seriously she doesn't know how much I miss our friendship. :(
I finally read Gone With the Wind last week.
It is truly a classic and I think Scarlet truly loved Rhett,
she just realized it too late.
I also finished reading another Sarah Dessen book this week.
Now I'm onto The Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving.
I'm trying to be a reading fiend this year--50 books and/or 50,000 pages hehe :D
Things are just getting too melancholy lately though.
At least that way I don't have to worry about living up to my subject quote I guess? ;-)
I'm going to be a nerd and finish some homework so I only have one thing to do this weekend.

Well school's back in session for me and my fellow EKU peeps tomorrow.
I can't really say that I'm extremely happy about that--
especially considering how I felt when I left Prestonsburg.
I came back a day earlier than expected yesterday to beat bad weather.
(The weather never arrived by the way, unless you count the loads of rain Saturday :| ugh.)
I went with two close pals to Wal Mart for groceries, etc though so that was nice. :)
Another one called me last night around 11:30 and we talked for about 25 minutes.
I love that in said call she didn't even say hi first she went right into a conversation,
"Good you're awake..." lol
I finished A Sound of Thunder and Other Stories by Bradbury yesterday before leaving town.
It was definitely my fave short story collection from him yet. :)
Tomorrow I have two classes from 9:05 until 11 and work from 12 to 4.
I don't think the classes will last that long but I do have to start a new article for work.
I hope I can find something interesting to write about/research to write about.
I haven't heard anything about my job becoming the full time thing mentioned when I interviewed.
I don't have a good feeling about it turning into something
and I've decided to take a year off to save money up and find a grad program that fits me.
So I think around March/April I will be calling one person and also getting resumes together. :|
It's so weird to think about graduating and what I'm going to do post-that.
A friend from GSP who I still occasionally talk to got into U of L's dentistry school.
I'm so happy for her and she wants me to attend her white coat ceremony.
I'd love to go (as soon as I know more date/time info);
she even said she'd be honored if I went and it's been too long since we saw each other.
I totally agreed, I think it's been at least a few years.
I promised to e-mail more often, I may even do that Tuesday after work and classes.
I really want to stay in the Richmond area for the year between undergrad and grad stuff.
I mean I still have 3-4 pals who will be around and I want to go to EKU for grad school.
It would really help to stay here for that year so I don't have to move so much...or at all.
I talked to an old 'friend' twice during break; yeah one thing is still faintly there on my part. :S
I also feel like I'm losing another close friend due to distance and new things getting in the way. :(
The Golden Globes are on tonight, I'll probably watch for a bit,
but then flip between that and new Cold Case and Brothers and Sisters episodes.
I didn't bring my Wii back just yet to my apartment,
I knew the Mario games I have now would distract me and I'd rather work on writing.
I have two really powerful ideas I want to flesh out and write down.
*needs to get mom to mail two notebooks to her*
I also may try and get back into my small town story.
I'm only taking 13 hours this semester and I'm working 14 instead of 16 hours a week.
I'm thinking (see hoping) that this will give me some more time to work on creative projects.
In other words, I'm finished with this entry and due for some Yahtzee games. :P

<lj:music>none, but I am getting ready to watch Wings</lj:music>

So Christmas is over even though I still have two more gifts to receive.
One of my friend's prezies to me has been delayed because of it not arrived in the mail yet.
I was supposed to meet up with a friend today to exchange gifts but she got busy with other stuff.
So instead she and I are meeting up (hopefully) on Thursday to have lunch and hang out a bit.
My grades were up the Monday after I got home for break on the 18th.
I got 4 As and 1 B (stupid Geology but I was going to let what happened happened in there.)
With one semester of undergraduate work at EKU left, I'm averaging a 3.81. :D
In other less positive news...
My brother, dad and I had a bit of a fight/problem recently.
My dad had the nerve to almost buy a gift card for the family staying with him,
and then to say it was going to be from my brother and his wife...
without their consent or approval :S.
We all three (brother, wife, me) felt uncomfortable going to dad's house
if the others were going to be there.
Dad talked to Joe and I separately about how happy he is in this relationship,
how it's a partnership and 11 years in the making since he first met her.
I wanted to say something about how it's not the relationship that upsets the family.
It's the fact that he went so headlong fast into it (through wrong ways really).
I mean moving that woman and her daughters in within a few months of it being official,
not calling my nana (his mom) as often, letting the girls have my room (without asking), etc.
Anyway, we ended up going to his house for a bit of Christmas gifts anyway.
(The other 'family' was gone for the day to either work or their relatives house.)
So other than all that hoopla, I'd say this was my biggest and best Christmas yet.
I went to a beautiful Christmas Eve service at church this year,
I even read a few Bible verses as part of it too.
Our new pastor is really great and (in my opinion a bonus that he's) very liberal :O :P.
I also got to see more family than usual and my gifts were great. :)
(Yes around Christmas time I do get a bit materialistic,
but I also love giving gifts too so :P.)
I got 3 new books including:
the new Alex Cross mystery and one with 100 Ray Bradbury short stories. :)
I got a few new outfits/some new clothes.
My mom got me a GPS for my Camry (I'm terrible at directions lol).
I also as a suprise in the bottom of my stocking got the I-pod Nano (purple) I wanted.
:D That was an awesome surprise I must say.
I've had a few problems getting all my music transferred over but it should be okay now.
My Nana (because she didn't need it) gave me her realllllllly nice lap top.
It's a Dell Inspiron notebook and she is getting my old one,
the one I've had since freshman year of college in return.
I also have gotten into a new author lately, Jodi Picoult.
I borrowed The Tenth Circle from my godmother
and bought Keeping Faith on Saturday.
I finished Just Listen by Sarah Dessen today and watched Chariots of Fire.
Tomorrow I hope to start a new book and watch a Hunter S. Thompson documentary. :)
So all in all it's been a good break from school so far,
and I still have about 10 days left on it so yay. :)

Just five days until Christmas break starts for me. :)
I have two finals, one project to turn in and a presentation in my way.
I would have a notebook due too but my teacher waived it.
She's giving everyone full credit on it.
So my final paper in there not graded I have a 98 in there.
I have a 97 in ethics; I'll have an A in PSY 401 after my presentation;
I can get as low as an 80 on the Clinical final and still have an A;
whatever happens in Geology will happen I guess.
The professor said even if you don't get an A on any test you can get an A in the class.
I'll hopefully be leaving for home on Thursday after my Clinical Psychology final.
I still have about 12 hours of work to put in next week.
Monday 8-10; Tuesday 8-12; Wednesday 8-10; Thursday 8-12
I'm almost finished Christmas shopping too;
just my dad (maybe), Dana (maybe) and my aunt Jamie.
I know what I'm getting Jamie though so it's fine.
Dana would probably be okay with just a card.
I had another not too great Sunday last weekend.
It's my own fault for thinking I could do a certain thing.
The situation has been handled out of my hands now though so that's okay I guess.
It just really freaked me out for a while there.
I had brunch with friends today and then took two of them Christmas shopping.
That was fun and now I'm into my hours of TV for the night:
Millionaire, Dead Like Me disc and maybe Hugh Laurie on SNL.
Tomorrow I'm gonna watch two movies (Stay & American Beauty).
I also am going to church in a less problematic way than last week.
I also have to do a last review for Geology and start reviewing for Clinical.
Dad's actually been listening to stuff I say in our calls lately too.
I mentioned wanting to watch a movie yesterday
and hours after I watched it he called and while talking asked how the movie was.
I started reading The Sound & The Fury this week.
Stupid EKU Library says on line it has the last two Uglies books.
Yeah right, I've checked for them about 5 times and they're gone each time.
I'll just borrow Andrea's copies when I get home for break.
Her Christmas gift is in and half of her b-day prezie too.
I ordered them on line so the other thing should be in any time now.
My mom and I saw Four Christmases over break.
It was really great, there's not many other movies I want to see out now really.
A guy from my grade, middle and high school classes asked about me to dad this week.
He's in the radiology department thingy at PCC.
I talked about this to mom last night and dreamed about flirting with him.
Chelsey thinks he's cute and I should go for it lol.
My subject line's from Dead Like Me by the way.
The lead character's boss is having her pick a temp for a job and said it.
That's it I guess.

Happy Black Friday everyone.
I myself am spending the mad shopping day away from the malls.
I do most of my shopping on-line anyway so it's all good.
Mom and I went to my uncle Mike's (her brother's) for Turkey Day.
That's always a safe bet for awesome food, my aunt even makes her rolls from scratch. :)
My dad went up to Chicago for Thanksgiving, that's where that woman's family is from. :S
I stopped by the house today to pick up some of my CDs and such.
With the remodeling and the 3 girls and 1 woman living there it's gotten pretty messy.
And that's putting it lightly because,
I said to myself at one point, "It's a hell hole."
I also picked up my school records and diploma though that I had left there.
Man was I dork in 8th grade.
I found some papers where I was planning my career LOL.
I wanted to be a "photographer or suspense author."
No 'scary book writer' title for me,
I went straight to using the more impressive sounding synonyms :P.
I said I would get up at 6:30 every morning
and that I would start work at "9:30 or when I got inspired."
For breakfast I would eat whatever I found that tasted good
and for dinner: "it depends, husband would cook sometimes"
In other news...
Thanksgiving break hasn't gone as fast as it usually has which is good.
I came home Tuesday after work, skipping out on my 3:30 class.
I got worried by the weather and didn't want to be on the Mountain Parkway at 6pm.
It's fine though I just missed a 5 point assignment.
I still have a 94 or so in the class and I just need an 89.5 to get an A.
The Journalism senior seminar just got on the books Tuesday
and it's still not available to register for through EKU Direct. :S
My PSY 401 professor and I analyzed my data on Monday.
In my study, no significant recall differences between conditions were found.
General terms: this means people remembered about the same # of words,
regardless of if music was playing or not.
My professor was slightly confused about which statistic to use at first.
It's a great day when you get to hear a professor mumble "Son of a b****." :D
I have two parts left to do on that project.
Then, I have to make the poster to show my results in the Psychology building lobby. :)
I got my ethics paper draft back on Monday, got a good grade.
I didn't have many errors to fix either.
So while waiting on my PSY 401 professor,
I acted nerdy and put in the suggested edits.
I printed it out last night and have the presentation part to print out at school.
Then that project is done too, :)
leaving only presented and a final draft of JOU 401 left.
My Geology professor got on my really bad side before this break.
He assigned a big 100 point group assignment due on Wednesday the 3rd.
Each person in the group has to talk about something related to the topic.
(We're in groups divided by dinosaur type.)
He actually said that if each person worked for an hour on it over break,
it'd be finished in no time.
Yeah like people want to do homework during Thanksgiving break. :S
I got my part done at work on Tuesday
and e-mailed it off to the person making the Power Point presentation for us.
I'm hoping to hang out with some P-burg friends tomorrow.
This whole going away to college thing really puts a cramp on seeing them more often. :(
My mom and I want to go see Four Christmases today too.
Joe and Tiffany saw it Wednesday and loved it.
Those two are the cutest dorks ever :P.
Tiffany did pass the last of her CPA exam, she heard the results last week. :D
I'm off to read a bit now, I'm fascinated by my school records hehe.

I figured a peaceful happy looking icon is good for now.
I have 8 days (6 of which are school) until Thanksgiving break and I can't wait.
Then after that, it's the home stretch of the last weeks of the semester.
It's scary to think how close I am to graduating.
I have all but 2 major things for the semester finished too,
but one of them requires me to finish running psychology subjects.
I have two more sessions left this week and that's done and then comes the stats part.
Oh gooody goody...not!!
I finished Eclipse over a week ago and now I'm on the Uglies series.
I also have my final projects in 2-3 classes finished which is a relief.
I re-uploaded all the music from my mp3 player onto my computer.
If/when I get an I-pod I can start out with having about 2,100 songs ready to go already.
School's school lately, I can't wait for my geology class to be over.
Okay actually I can't wait for all my classes to be over but that one mainly.
The professor is just so dorky and in a sometimes creepy way. :|
I got my spring classes set mostly up fine last week, well after almost an hour wait.
The one class that's left for me to register won't be up until this weekend.
The crazy Communication department I'm getting a degree from,
the people involved with it added a journalism seminar dealie.
It was added really late and thus seniors taking it won't register for it until the 22nd.
Boy did the 5 hours of sleep I got last Tuesday help me out.
I mean it made last Wednesday sooo fun with all the running around I did. :S
I do have one Christmas gift bought already now thanks to that day though. :)
Work's decent too.
I've not done a lot lately which is good but sometimes boring in a way.
Tomorrow I get to help research homeland security conventions for my boss.
At least it's something to help the five hour shift go by a bit.
I haven't heard anything about the job becoming full time/the grad school help thing.
I feel like the more I tell people about that possibility the less likely it'll happen.
Plus it doesn't help much that I'm considering taking a year off before grad school.
I go back and forth on both sides of the choice. *shrug*
I'm also considering writing a final 'My Turn' for the paper.
This one would have to be put in within the next week though,
as it would serve as a huge complaint about what happened with my two degrees.
I know the policy now about why so many hours are needed,
but an exception and not a rule should be made considering some stuff.
What if a person is so clear about what they want,
and they use their 20-30 some electives (depending on 1st degree) for a 2nd degree?
I found out I am not alone in doing this recently
and what has it gotten me and at least one other person?
Only one diploma come graduation and a listing of "two majors" on our transcripts.
(Yes if you can't tell talking to some psychology majors got me a bit riled up again.)
In other news, family is decent, when I hear from more than one of them.
I'm an idiot in terms of laundry recently...
And now I think I'm going to get ready for bed,
either that or watch The Daily Show
because I am a bad night owl/don't like early mornings bird.

Fall break has came and went.
Now it's time for the home stretch through Thanksgiving and then to Christmas break.
I have two of five major projects for the semester finished.
(I've only still interviewed one person for Public Affairs Reporting, Maria.
I just can't get myself energized about working on that project.
Somehow, the project will get finished eventually.)
My psychology thesis project is going pretty well though.
Forty-seven people have signed up and I need 75 my professor said.
I don't think I'll get the full 75 but I would be happy to get 45-60.
Tomorrow I plan on printing one of my three major writing projects for the term.
I still need to work on the other two, I plan to start one this weekend.)
I had advising today, my last time as an undergrad.
Reggie didn't quite feel my wrath over the 2 degrees at once issue,
but now he knows to warn any future double majors with what happened to me.
It's up to my own decisions about what I want my last extra 3 course hours will be in.
(I only need 10 hours next semester but my scholarship requires taking 12 each term.)
I also have to really focus on grad school stuff--a big worry of mine.
I gave my parents Christmas wish lists for their sides of my family.
I'm mainly asking for books, DVDs, and Wii related stuff;
two items not in that list are two GRE Test Prep things.
(a book and vocabulary flash cards)
I finished The Cat's Pajamas by Ray Bradbury on Saturday
and started Eclipse (Twilight Series #3) on Sunday.
I'm over halfway through Eclipse and I've fallen into a tragic romance mood.
What is it about me that my moods usually match what I'm reading or listening to? :|
I can't believe how insane my dad has gotten lately with his living situation.
(I'll leave it at that, if you want to know more leave a comment.)
I'm going bowling with Psy Chi/Psychology Club tomorrow. :)
I am looking forward to a bit of fun and socialization before I work a lot this weekend.
My sister-in-law took her last accounting test part yesterday.
I hope she did okay, I bet she did though, she's worked so hard on this.
I'm off to be boring and type some non-LJ stuff now.

    <lj:music>episode 6 of Heroes</lj:music>

So let's see.
I heard back about the graduation problem.
I'm going to do the one diploma with two majors on the transcript option.
It sucks not getting a diploma for finishing the work on my second degree,
but I do not want to take 30 hours of bullcrap credit.
That's an extra year of classes that (if I get in) I could be in grad school doing.
I'm okay to graduate on time otherwise though.
Otherwise school is decent even though I can't wait for fall break.
I start my psychology study sessions on Wednesday.
I have to run 75 subjects (25 in each condition) and so far, 32 people have signed up.
My study uses words shown on Power Point instead of in a printed list now.
I have good midterm grades and I hope they stay the way they are.
I went home for the first time in 3 weeks last weekend.
It was pretty good, saw some pals, went to a haunted house.
It wasn't that great ,
but I think the friends I went with and me were just too good for it :P lol.
We're hoping to go on a haunted trail/walk when I come home for Halloween/fall break.
Some EKU friends and mine finally played Therapy a few weeks ago.
I can't wait to play it again.
I finished Sports Night last weekend,
very good show too bad it was only 2 seasons.
I really hope I do okay on the stuff I have to do classes wise this semester.
I no longer consider my dad's house one of my own houses now.
He's completely remodeled it and made into his and Trinity's house. :S :|
Work is okay too,
just slightly boring because I don't have definite articles to research.
My computer got spy ware in it two weekends ago (stupid me wanted to watch TV online :|).
I got it fixed last week but it meant a total reformatting.
Good thing for me I saved most of my important things.
Nothing really else to say, I mean I'm working on Christmas list ideas.
My mom asked me to go ahead to get it ready.
I can't wait until Christmas break,
but it's weird thinking about having only 1 semester left after that.

So I went to apply for graduation for my psychology degree today.
I got some pretty shady news.
Apparently, if you're a double major at EKU, you have to complete 160 credit hours.
If I don't get the 160 hours in, both degrees will be on my transcript.
HOWEVER, for only one of them (the first one-Journalism) will I get a diploma.
None of this was told to me in all the years I've been a double major.
Every advising appointment I've gone to since sophomore year I've mentioned my two degrees.
NEVER during any of them did Reggie mention this 160 hours thing.
There is also NO mention of the 160 hours needed in the course catalog.
All that's said is that if both degrees in a double major are earned at the same time,
they'll be on the student's transcript,
and for more info on it to contact advising or the department they're interested in.
I have since e-mailed the department chair in psychology.
I did so because its his department that I apparently won't be getting a diploma in.
I'm just going to be getting a transcript credit for it.
I can't afford to take 32 hours of credit which won't really count for anything.
That's about 2-3 semesters of classes and I can NOT afford them. :S
So there you go, a cliff notes story about how Savannah got really pissed today.
She even wanted to punch someone in the face and say the other ending word in bull'crap.'
